Garage Conversion

This property just outside of Calgary was finding they needed more space in their home and wanted to add a bedroom in the most cost effective way possible. This client decided that brushing snow off their vehicle in the morning was a fair compromise for the extra room inside their house, so that's what we did. Although this project may seem pretty overwhelming it is actually fairly straight forward. We start by closing in the large opening where the oversized door once was with a wall that has two window inserts to maximize lighting. Then by framing up the flooring and installing insulation below we are able to make sure that the heat going into the garage stays in the garage. They liked the look of the feature wooden ceiling so that stayed just how it is and we installed new drywall, and finished up to the ceiling. We added a feature fireplace not just for looks but also for those cold Canadian snow days where you don't feel like leaving the house. The multiple chandeliers accompanied by the natural light from the windows makes this new room feel huge and cozy at the same time. Id say this conversion was fair trade off for parking outside!
